We’re excited to welcome Luis Bernardino for a very special Masterclass — an immersive evening of sketchbook exploration, dynamic composition, and creative storytelling.
Thursday, 22 May
19:00 – 21:00
CASA – Laboratório de Atividades Criativas, Parede @casa_labactcriativas
Born in Mafra and trained in Painting at the Lisbon Fine Arts Faculty (with a brief Erasmus in Poland), Luis has lived and worked in Vietnam as a concept artist and art educator. Wherever he goes, he carries a sketchbook and an analogue camera to record the moment — collecting scenes from life with instinct and curiosity.
Luis invites us to approach the page as children do — freely, playfully, without pressure. He’ll guide us in building personal, sensory compositions using the tools at hand, drawing from observation or imagination. Whether it’s people, plants, objects, or pure invention, it’s all about capturing a narrative of the present moment.
This class will explore how to:
- play with visual rhythm and layout
- use daily life as inspiration
- break away from perfection and embrace sketchbooking as a liberating space
- diversify visual language within a single composition
Luis will also bring along some of his own sketchbooks and drawings for you to explore.
Materials: We provide basic materials, but participants are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks and, if possible, a water brush. Any paper/card will do!
